How to store a meat grinder?
I sprayed my grinder with Pam 12 months ago to prevent rust before storing it. When I took it out yesterday, it seemed waxy and rancid. Any suggestions as to what type of oil to use?
Your meat grinder is probably coated with tin. Spraying with Pam will not really help keep rust off, in fact it could trap moisture on the metal, and you already know the other bad side effects.
The best thing to do is rinse in hot water and dry thoroughly before storing it in a dry place. Also, don’t use any scratchies or cleansers on tin, it is sensitive to rough abrasives and chemicals.
